A local stone mason built the raised beds using locally quarried stone. The beds were designed with thick walls and flat coping stones to ensure that they are comfortable to sit - this makes weeding a pleasure not a chore!
The vegetable garden produces herbs, salads, veg and cut flowers such as sweet peas and dahlias. The formal lawn (seen left) separates the vegetable garden from the flower garden in the distance. It was mown with long and short stripes in the summer for children's' running races.
