Low maintenance, small and shady front garden
This garden was designed for a couple needing a low maintenance front garden with better access. The front steps were small and dangerous so were replaced by a ramp with a gentle slope. A simple pebble spiral replaced a dull concrete patio and old conifers were removed and replaced with a rowan for the birds and a clematis montana for the bees, along with flowers and bulbs for year round interest. The sandstone ramp was decorated with pretty pebbles and the cracks and crevices were carefully planted up with rockery plants to give the ramp an aged feel, softened with ferns and shade loving plants. Containers, artworks and contrasting materials give the garden plenty of detail.
